Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Will I need to take any time off work after any of these treatments?
A. No. Redness usually disappears within 2-3 hours.

Q. When will I see results from my treatment?
A. Most treatments show results within two to three weeks after your initial session. Some treatments may require more than one visit to ensure optimum results.

Q. Do Laser treatments hurt?
A. Laser treatments are not painless however tolerable. The sensation is similar to a rubber band snapping against the skin.

Q. Is there any down time?
A. You will experience minor swelling and brief redness but these are mild and short lived side effects.

Q. Can I wear make up after my treatment?
A. It is recommended that you wait 24 hours to apply any make up. However if need be, you are safe to apply a mineral based make up post treatment.

Q. Does Laser hair removal work for everyone?
A. Treatment is effective on all skin types including dark skinned clients of all ethnic origins. The only hair that is not treatable with any Laser technology is white, blond, grey and/or red. This is because the Laser selectively targets melanin, the substance that provides colour or pigment to the hair to disable the follicle from growing back.

Q. What do I need to prepare for my treatment?
A. You must wear a SPF 30 or higher that is UVA/UVB broad spectrum in protection. You must also avoid any UV exposure including tanning beds and self tanner for a minimum of 4 weeks prior to your first treatment and for the entire duration of your treatments.

Q. Will my face look like Samantha’s from "Sex & The City" after a Chemical Peel?
A. Most clients do not experience any down time or side effects from chemical peels. Depending on the acid used for your chemical peel and skin condition, some clients do experience slight redness but this subsides rather quickly after treatment and can be covered with mineral make up post treatment. You can expect to experience a tingling sensation and a feeling of warmth when the solution is applied to the skin. However this diminishes between 2-5 minutes.

Q. Is Laser hair removal permanent?
A. Yes, however it does take a minimum of 6 treatments to remove the hair in any one area. The face can take up to 12 treatments, as facial hair growth is often associated with hormonal conditions. Laser hair removal only works on hair follicles that are in the active growth stage which is called the anagen phase. At any given time, only a percentage of follicles will be actively growing. The rest of the hair will either be in catagen(shedding) or telogen(resting) phase and therefore can not be targeted by the laser. We space your treatments based on the growth cycle to target hair in the anagen phase. Compliancy with your treatment cycle will be important in maximizing hair removal and achieving satisfactory results.

Q. What causes age spots?
A. Often called liver spots and freckles are commonly known as pigmented lesions in the medical profession. They are almost always caused by cumulative exposure to the sun’s damaging ultraviolet rays over years. Once you have your pigmented lesions removed, you will want to protect your skin with a broad spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen to prevent further UV damage to your skin.
